The Impossibility of Translation

I have been in Spain for the last week. Pleased to have been invited to share thoughts on the art of translation and to read some of my poems at the University of Valencia.

A careful reading of Walter Benjamin's "The Work of the Translator" has suggested to me that all poetry needs to be approached as language that holds within it a certain degree of translatability.
